திருவாசகம் என்பது சைவ சமயக் கடவுளான சிவபெருமான் மீது பாடப்பட்ட பாடல்களின் தொகுப்பு ஆகும். இதனை இயற்றியவர் மாணிக்கவாசகர்.
பன்னிரு சைவ சமயத் திருமுறைகளில் திருவாசகம் எட்டாம் திருமுறையாக உள்ளது. திருவாசகத்துக்கு உருகாதார் ஒருவாசகத்துக்கும் உருகார் என்பது மூதுரை. பக்திச் சுவையும், மனதை உருக்கும் தன்மையும் கொண்ட திருவாசகப் பாடல்கள், தமிழில் சிறந்த இலக்கியங்களின் வரிசையில் வைத்து எண்ணப்படுகின்றன.
திருவாசகம் 51 பகுதிகளையும் 649 பாடல்களையும் கொண்டுள்ளது. திருவாசகத்தில் . முதற்கண் அமைந்துள்ளன. அடுத்து வரும் ளைக் கொண்டது. நீத்தல் விண்ணப்பம் 50 பாடல்களைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. திருவெம்பாவையில் 20 பாடல்கள் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன. திருவம்மானையும் 20 பாடல்களில் நடையிடுகிறது. திருப்பொற் சுண்ணம் முதல் திருவுந்தியார் வரை 6 பகுதிகளும் அவ்வாறே 20 பாடல்களால் நடையிடுகின்றன. எஞ்சிய பகுதிகள் பெரும்பாலும் 10 பாடல்கள் கொண்ட பதிகங்களாகவே அமைந்துள்ளன. ‘திருவாசகத்துக்கு உருகார் ஒரு வாசகத்துக்கும் உருகார்’ என்பது இதன் சிறப்பை உரைக்கும் பழமொழி.
இந்நூல், மனிதனின் உள்ளத்தில் புகுந்துள்ள சிற்றியல்புகள், அவைகளைக் களையும் முறைகள், இறையாகிய பரம்பொருளை நாடுகிறவர்கள் பெறவேண்டிய பேரியல்புகள், அவைகளை வளர்க்கும் முறைகள், அருள் வேட்கை கொள்ளல், அருளைப் பெறல், அதில் ஆழ்ந்து தோய்தல், இறைவனைக் காணல், அவனோடு தொடர்பு கொள்ளல், அவனிடமிருந்து பெறவேண்டியதைப் பெறுதல், பக்தியைப் பெருக்குதல், அது இறைபக்தியாக வடிவெடுத்தல், இறையுடன் இரண்டறக் கலத்தல் ஆகியவைகளை முறையாகக் கூறுகிறது.
