Three players, 12 cards each, and four cards forming the "mound" face down on the table. The game begins with a bidding round. Players take turns speaking and, based on their hand, must decide whether to open the game, raise an opening bid, or pass. Possible bids are:
"CALL": The player declares that he or she will play by calling a missing card (mandatory in this order: a three, a two, an ace, etc.). If he or she receives the card from an opponent, he or she must return one of his or her choice.
"SOLO": The player declares that he or she will play without asking for any cards, using only the mound.
"SOLISSIMO": The player declares that he or she will play only with the cards already in hand, without taking the mound.
The player who wins the bidding round must then sort, that is, return a card to the opponent who dealt the called card and return four cards of his or her choice to the mound. The game is then played according to the rules of Tressette. Whoever wins the last hand also wins the cards in the pile, which will contribute to the points tally.
If you declare "CHIAMO" and win, you earn 2 points, while your opponents earn -1. The points up for grabs are doubled when playing "SOLO" and tripled when playing "SOLISSIMO."
