Meet Otto, a jolly walrus bandmaster in a red band jacket who plays the tuba in a snowy harbour far up north and loves playing it with your child!
Toddlers Tuba turns your phone or tablet into a real-sounding tuba made for small hands. Every touch makes music, so even the youngest players succeed from the very first tap.
PLAY
Big brass pistons with smiling faces. Press a piston and it sinks with a puff of air. Hold it and the note swells like a deep breath; wiggle your finger and the note wobbles. Slide along the pistons for a run, or tap Otto for a big, droopy "bwaaamp". Every note is a real recorded tuba. Record a little tune and play it back. Try more sounds: a bouncy tuba, trombone, bassoon, ship horn, brass band and big bells.
REAL TUBA
Blow a note with one hand and press the four valves with the other, just like a real tuba player. Watch the air travel through the tubing: every valve sends it the long way round, and the note gets lower.
SONGS
20 songs, from Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and When the Saints Go Marching In to In the Hall of the Mountain King, Clementine and the Carnival of Venice.
• Magic mode: any piston plays the next note, so your child sounds like a star at once.
• Follow mode: the right piston glows, so little musicians learn the melody.
• Listen mode: Otto and the band play the whole song.
BAND
In a real band the tuba plays the bass, and here your child does too! Start a groove (march, polka, waltz, New Orleans, circus, Balkan brass, sea shanty or penguin waddle) and tap the big oom-pah bell in time: it always plays the right bass note for the band. Play along on the pistons too, every note fits. Add tuba tricks with a single tap: a ta-da, an oom-pah, a sad wah-wah, a ship's foghorn, a singing whale, Otto's ho-ho-ho, a sneaky tiptoe and a big fanfare.
GAMES
Build a snowman in Snowman Song: every snowball plays the next note of a tune, and the snowman grows with the song. Repeat Otto's melodies in Copy Me, and tell high from low with a puffin and a whale in High or Low?.
LULLABIES
Otto falls asleep on an ice floe under the northern lights while a soft tuba plays lullabies, with a sleep timer that slowly fades the music out.
