Solitaire Golf is one of the famous variations of classic patience games like Klondike, Spider, Spiderette and FreeCell.
Like most patience games, Golf Solitaire uses a single deck of 52 playing cards.After the game started, 35 cards are dealt face up to form the tableau which consists of 7 columns. The remaining 17 cards are dealt face down to form the stock.
The aim of Golf Solitaire HD is to move all cards from the tableau to the Waste. In the normal version of the game you need to complete 9 holes, that means that you need to clear 9 tableaus in total. However you can also choose to play the shorter version, in which you only need to complete 4 holes.
The cards from the Stock can be flipped over, one at a time, and placed on top of the Waste. The cards from the tableau can be moved to the Waste in ascending or descending order. In the original version of Golf Solitaire, it is not allowed to place a King on an Ace and vice versa. However in this version the option "King on Ace" is turned on by default (You can change that in the settings-screen).
The scoring system in Golf Solitaire is similiar to that of the game of Golf. At the end of each hole you get 1 point for every remaining card in the tableau. The goal is to score the lowest number of points over the course of the game.
Almost every game in Solitaire Golf HD is solveable, this is what makes the game so unique. Unlike some other popular Solitaire games like Klondike, Spider or FreeCell, Golf relies more on skill rather than luck.
You can choose between two kinds of games while playing Solitaire Golf HD.
Normal game: If you chose to play a normal game, you need to complete 9 holes (rounds).
Short game: If you just want to have a relaxing session while playing Solitaire Golf HD you can choose to play a short game. In the short version you only need to complete 4 holes (rounds).
