Albion Online stands out in the RPG world dominated by games with auto features. Developed by Sandbox Interactive GmbH, the mobile version of the game has no auto-pathing, auto battle or the like. You have to play it with your fingers -- literally.
In the sandbox world provided by Albion Online, what you can explore is beyond your imagination. I always feel excited whenever I find some new features, and even more when I found on the developer’s website that the game is much more than that. You are what you wear
It’s said that your outfit in real life affects your psychological state and thus how you perform in the day. The same goes for your character in Albion Online. The difference is, though, what you’re equipped with determine your class in the game. Yes, you don’t have to choose a class before you’re clueless about the game, or fix your class when you’re already an expert. The game is classless, and changing your class is as simple as changing your outfit.
So equip a sword or blade if you prefer close combats. Hold a bow if fighting in a long distance is your thing. Change into a fire staff to cure your teammates as well as to beat enemies from afar. Most spells you can use change after you wear a new weapon. And there are more types of weapons in the game you can explore and use with no limits.
A player-driven economy
Similar to real-life rules, trade in the game happens in a marketplace connecting sellers and buyers, who are all real people instead of computers. On the demand side, from raw materials to equipment to chests, the marketplace has you covered. Even things not on sale can be ordered from other players, and all you need to do is create a buy order by setting the number of items you need and the amount of money you pay.
Another way to participate in the economy is to sell items to other players. Whether it’s simply things taking too much space of your inventory, or weapons you craft specially to cover market demands, just make your way to the salesperson in town and sell them. Chances are you may sell your way to the top.
Be a warrior, gatherer, craftsperson or whatever you want
Though Albion Online is an MMORPG, being a fighter is not the only choice you have. You can become either a dedicated warrior, gatherer or craftsperson. And doing three jobs at the same time is not a bad idea.
As a fighter, your main job is to beat monsters in dungeons or the wilderness, or challenge other players. As a gatherer, you collect raw materials such as ores, logs, cloth and animal skins from the wilderness. And a craftsperson makes equipment in all tiers for fighters with materials bought from gatherers. In a word, in Albion Online you can do whatever job you want.
PVE & PVP
PVE happens in dungeons, towns or in the wilderness. Animal and human monsters may attack you automatically when you pass them by, even if you don’t intend to beat them at all. When this happens, make sure you don’t run away like a headless chicken, which only attracts more monsters and leads to death.
When defeating computers is not challenging for you anymore, maybe it’s time to face off other powerful players. But beginners don’t have to worry about this. There are safe regions where you can wander around or gather materials without the fear of being attacked by other players. Stay in these places until you are strong enough to begin PVP battles.
One server for all platforms
Albion Online is a game you can play at home and on the go, because it works on all platforms including Windows, Mac, Android, and Linux with all players on a single server. This means you don’t have to change an account even if you play the game on different devices. You have the convenience of playing with your phone, and explore the world with a bigger screen, keyboard and mouse. I believe this is rare in these days and makes the game stand out in a wide selection of MMOs.
