Hnefataflは古代スカンジナビアのボードゲームで、チェスが発明される前に中世ヨーロッパでプレイされていました。いわゆるTaflゲームでは、2つの異なるサイズの軍隊が互いに戦います。侵略してくる黒の軍隊は白の王を捕まえようとし、防御の白の軍隊は王を守って脱出を助けようとします。
