PERMISSIONS WE USE AND WHY
• Physical Activity (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION)
We request access to your physical activity to count your daily steps and estimate calories burned from movement. This data is used only within the app to display your daily activity summary.
• Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION)
Location is used solely to measure the distance of your outdoor activities (walking, running, cycling) so we can calculate calories burned more accurately. Location data is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties.
• Health Connect — Steps, Active Calories Burned, Distance, Weight
Healthy Food Calories is a calorie-tracking and nutrition-management app. Its core feature is calculating a user's daily energy balance: calories consumed (from food logs) minus calories burned (from activity). Health Connect provides the activity and body data needed to make this calculation accurate.
READ_ACTIVE_CALORIES_BURNED
The app's dashboard displays a real-time "Calories Remaining", calculated as: Daily Goal − Calories Eaten + Calories Burned. By syncing active calories directly from Health Connect, the app provides a complete picture of your daily energy expenditure. Without this data, the app can only show calories consumed and cannot display how much energy the user has actually expended through exercise and movement. This is the primary metric users rely on to decide what and how much to eat each day.
READ_WEIGHT
The app personalizes your daily calorie goal using your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), which is calculated based on your current weight. This data also fuels a progress chart, letting you track how your body composition evolves alongside your diet. By syncing with Health Connect, you can automatically import weight data from other apps—like your smart scale—saving you from manual entries while ensuring your calorie goals and trends stay accurate.
READ_STEPS
Calculate calories burned from daily walking and movement
READ_DISTANCE
Measure how far you walk or run and estimate the associated calorie burn
All health data read from Health Connect is used exclusively to power the app's features on your device. We do not sell, share, or upload your health data to external servers.
