However, the present-day text of this book was probably written in the Bengali region of the Indian subcontinent in the 15th or 16th century AD. It is probably refined in some part of South India. Many texts of this Purana are found. The number of chapters of this Purana is 264 or 26. All the texts are claimed to be part or manuscript of Brahmavaivarta Purana or Brahmakaivarta Purana.
