Paani Foundation is a not-for-profit company founded by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao in 2016 to make Maharashtra drought free. Paani team comprises core team members of the “Satyamev Jayate” show. Paani Foundation’s CEO is Satyajit Bhatkal (Director: Satyamev Jayate) and COO is Reena Datta.
Satyamev Jayate Samruddha Gaon Spardha : Transforming rural ecology and the rural economy!
From 2016 to 2019, we hosted the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup, a competition in which thousands of villages participated to do the best work in water and soil conservation. Bolstered by its success, we launched the Satyamev Jayate Samruddha Gaon Spardha in 2020, a larger competition aimed at transforming rural ecology and the rural economy.
The Satyamev Jayate Samruddha Gaon Spardha is a competition aimed at transforming rural ecology and the rural economy in Maharashtra, and empowering citizens to create the village of their dreams.
Its central focus is on sustainable water use and environmental restoration.
In 2020-2021, almost 1,000 villages across 39 talukas are eligible to participate in this competition. These villages have been shortlisted on the basis of their performance as part of the Water Cup.
The Samruddha Gaon Spardha aims to address these problems and inspire villages to adopt a more comprehensive approach towards uprooting drought.
