Taking a break from the dizzying heights of their massively successful Angry Birds Franchise, Rovio is aiming to conquer the mobile with a whole new IP. Far from the the puzzlers of the past, their newest creation is a multiplayer online battle arena but it differs a lot from the mobile's stock of Dota and League of Legends clones. Instead, they draw inspiration from the likes World of Warships, bringing the explosive team action from the land to the unwieldy seas.Enter the game's vast oceanic arena, and work hand in hand with your teammates to bring down your enemies in the brutal deathmatch. But it's not as easy as it looks. You'll also have to fight against the raging waves that threaten to block your attacks as you yourself struggle to avoid enemy fire. Luckily, Battle Bay boasts an overwhelming amount of customizations.
Take your pick from their lineup of boats from shooters, defenders, and more, and line them all with the weapons of your own choosing. Each ship has a certain role to play in the battle, but ultimately your fleet and how you use them holds the key to victory. Eliminate your opponents or hold your ground in capture points. Whatever your method, the game is fun, fast-paced, and incredibly addicting.
Although the controls might take a while to get used to, Battle Bay remains a delightful diversion for any smartphone gamer. It’s a impressive fusion of the quirkiness of the Angry Birds series and the complexities of team-based action, wrapped in their spectacular 3D visuals. It set the genre ablaze and offered the world a colorful, yet tactical MOBA for all ages. It has a PlayScore of 8.25
