EDIT OPTION ADDED, after a widget is deleted it's information is stored and when adding a new widget you can select menu(or the three dots)->Load last deleted widget config to select the apps it had selected
A 1x1 widget that allows you to add four small launch-icons to it.
Only the applications icons are shown, so if two applications have the same icon you wont know which one goes to which.
There seems to be confusion of what a widget is!
To add it to your home screen you (usually) long press your home screen, select widget from the menu that pops up, and then select "Small Icons".
