Sobre Sindhi English Dictionary
Originally Compiled by: Captain George Stack (1st May, 1849)
Earlier this dictionary was compiled as Sindhi in Devanagari typography to English, then Sindhi in Arabic typography was added by Dr. Fahmida Hussain (Chairperson SLA). Transliterated by Ms. Parsa Rizvi a young energetic team member of SLA. This dictionary has been published by Sindhi Language Authority in 2011 as second edition with sponsorship of Endowment Fund Trust (For the Preservation of Heritage of Sindh, Karachi – Sindh). The great benefit of this dictionary is to recall the original words of Sindhi where a user can understand and learn the origination of the Sindhi typical words.
In this application, following features has been added for better browsing:
Design & display:
• Traditional Sindhi Font embedded.
• Eye catchy design and layout.
Technical Features:
• A quick search of words, while you type.
• History list of already searched words.
• Selecting favorite words for easily browsing.
• Lightweight size for low bandwidth connection.
• Offline databased merged.
• More than 17,000 words are added which are most commonly used in daily life.
This dictionary is developed for students, learners and daily users for helping them to translate Sindhi words in English language. This is also helpful for abroad living Sindhis who can’t read Sindhi in Arabic typography but in Devanagari.
The application is developed by Institute of Sindhi Computing in Sindhi Language Authority.
