Clash of Clans is an online multiplayer games where players build community, train troops, and attack other players to earn gold and elixir, and Dark Elixir, which can be used to build the defenses that protect players against other players', and to train and raising an army. The game also features a pseudo-single-player campaign where players will have to attack a series of villages goblin fort.

At a higher level, dark elixir becomes available; kind of panacea used to train and improve the dark elixir troops and heroes, creating a dark spell, and fuel Inferno Tower, a defensive building that is only available at the Town Hall 10. To receive and save a dark elixir, the player must build a dark elixir exercise and storage of dark elixir.
