பன்னிரு சைவத் திருமுறைகளில் திருஞான சம்பந்தர் பாடிய தேவாரப் பாடல்கள் முதல் இரண்டாம் மற்றும் மூன்றாம் திருமுறைகளாக உள்ளன.
இவற்றுள் இரண்டாம் திருமுறையில் உள்ள பதிகங்களில் ஒன்று கோளறு பதிகம் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
திருஞான சம்பந்தர் மதுரை செல்ல உடன்பட்டு திருநாவுக்கரசரிடம் விடைபெறச் சென்றார். திருநாவுக்கரசர், அந்தக் கணத்தில் கோள்களின் அமைப்பும் அன்றைய நாளும் தீமை பயக்கும் அறிகுறிகள் காட்டுவதாகக் கூறி சம்பந்தரின் பயணத்தை ஒத்திப்போடச் சொன்னார்.
“சிவனடியையே சிந்திக்கும் சிவனடியார்களை நாளும் கோளும் என்ன செய்து விடும்? அவை நன்மையே பயக்கும்” என்று கூறி பத்து பாடல்கள் பாடினார் திருஞான சம்பந்தர்.
அந்தப் பாடல்களின் தொகுப்பான பதிகமே (பத்து பாடல்களின் தொகுப்புக்குப் பதிகம் என்று பெயர்) கோளறு பதிகம் எனப் பெயர் பெற்றது
