Much has been done in terms of capacity building among electoral administrators; developing electoral system, campaign and legislation; the electoral administration; voter registration; counting and vote tabulation; and the complaints and appeals process. Despite the improvements made so far, maintaining electoral integrity, transparency and fairness remain a daunting challenge for the Afghan government and its international counterparts. Confidence in the electoral process among the population is correspondingly low.
To minimize such risks and to address a relatively small share of the technical and technological challenges in the electoral system in a most cost and time-efficient manner, a group of young and motivated Afghans has tactfully designed the Election Watch (E-Watch) mobile application that will offer the features highlighted below.
