The Book of Jubilees is one of the most important pseudoepigraphic works of the Old Testament, both for its relative extent and for its consistent content.
The feature, very typical of this work, of presenting itself as a revelation made by divine commission and in the first person by an angel "of the face", or "divine presence" - to Moses on Mount Sinai. That makes him a depository of the tables of the Law and, at the same time, of complete prophecies about the graces and misfortunes that would reach Israel.

Among the Dead Sea manuscripts, fourteen Hebrew fragments of several copies of Jub have been found. Jub reflects the basic ideology of the Essenian community in the supreme position and eternal validity of the law, in the eagerness to keep Israel
section of the impurity and idolatry gentiles and even in the adoption of the solar calendar. It must be recognized, however, that other basic ideas of the Qumran community do not appear in Jub, perhaps due to its purpose of insisting only on the two
first books of the Pentateuch.
In summary, then, the author of Jub is probably a priest, anonymous, with an essentially Essene ideology, but not strictly part of that community, because he is a "protoesenium" or an independent member of it.
